God hates religion and politics but loves people

The breakthrough question today is: Do you hate the things that God hates and love the things God loves? The best ways to find the answers to this is to take two food products one made with synthetic ingredients (if you could find Twinkies you’d be on the right track) and if you have enough money to go to Whole Foods and get something wholesome and organic, like a loaf of their multi-grain bread and examine what they are made from- God would probably choose the bread. God hates synthetic religion but he loves the people who practice it. It has as much nutrients as a Twinkie, but the earthy stuff in multi-grain bread is useful to most people. God would love to see the people that he loves who are strung out on synthetic garbage and junk psychology and philosophy throw their synthetic foods away and start from scratch. God allows people to consume junk food, get divorced; go to war; raise up human Kings and political parties and offer up burnt-sacrifices to him but not because He endorses these things. It is because in His words, “People are sinful and evil.”

What God Hates but allows

God hates divorce, but he loves the ex-husband and ex-wife. He hates perversion of His plan for life; for defining what love is and isn’t. God hates war and He hates killing, and He hates that we would put false gods and idols on our dashboards; in our homes; and on our downloads. God loves MAPS though and He loves people that seek His path. He went through a great deal of trouble to make sure we had the complete guide. God hates that people have turned away from Him, but He loves the men and women who turned away and He wants to find them. His motive is not religion, it is the hope that you should turn to Him and for some reason He wants a relationship with you. God Hates religion, but He loves the atheist,  the agnostic, the Catholic and the Muslim, the seeker and the Jew, the disabled and the able the same way. As the Old Testament ends God has the prophet Malachi deliver His message.

1-3 “Count on it: The day is coming, raging like a forest fire. All the arrogant people who do evil things will be burned up like stove wood, burned to a crisp, nothing left but scorched earth and ash— a black day. But for you, sunrise! The sun of righteousness will dawn on those who honor my name, healing radiating from its wings. You will be bursting with energy, like colts frisky and frolicking. And you’ll tromp on the wicked. They’ll be nothing but ashes under your feet on that Day.” God-of-the-Angel-Armies says so.

“Remember and keep the revelation I gave through my servant Moses, the revelation I commanded at Horeb for all Israel, all the rules and procedures for right living.

5-6 “But also look ahead: I’m sending Elijah the prophet to clear the way for the Big Day of God—the decisive Judgment Day! He will convince parents to look after their children and children to look up to their parents. If they refuse, I’ll come and put the land under a curse.”

As the curtain falls on the First Act of the Bible God makes a promise and a threat- “Turn to me and you will be blessed. I love you, but I hate false gods.”  “I hate what you do to each other and how you represent me.” “Turn to me and watch what I’ll do. There will come a day of the Lord.”  God’s motive is spelled out and the path that we follow is also laid out and God is telling people, as He does today, be ready.” There is fire and passion in the hope, and there is hope for those who turn to God as king.

I don’t know about you but I have attended plays destined for Broadway and watched from the first read-through to the last preview. Rewrites; songs and scenes cut, songs added and sometimes the process ends up in a budding genius of a work; but most times it is a train wreck. The first Act of the Bible pretty much has the same theme. God creates people, He loves people; He tells a sinful people to turn back to Him, they do, they forget what He looks like,  God is tempted to destroy people for the evil ways, he makes allowances, He defines marriage, sex, family, life, law, and authority. People pervert all of those things.

Systematic human nature

They turn to Him, they turn back to idols, they kill their children, they offer sacrifice, they make things that they worship, they invent their own festivals, they forget about God, and He sends messengers. They beat the messengers, they kill the prophets, and they go to war, they crown bad kings, they crown good kings, the Temple is torn apart, the Temple is rebuilt and the cycle of the old Testament spins like Ezechiel’s wheel and heads are spinning when the breaking news comes in from Malachi (who we know little about him. Some think it is one of the prophets or possibly Ezra.) The first act ends with the message that “The Year of the Lord” will be a judgement day. Some people in our neighborhood think that this means the end of the world. But this is the telling piece of the prophet’s puzzle: “Fathers will turn to their children and children to their fathers.” If they knew what we know now the promise is in the Messiah who will come as a baby and live his life accordingly. And He will show us how to turn to our Father in Heaven and the Father will show us how a father turns to His children. God’s motive turns to a Christlike approach in a film that took 3000 years to make.

Human History between the Testaments

There are people who believe that we evolved from ape to us. The case for Darwin can be made in between the testaments. Ladies and gentleman this may be the only time in movie or theatrical history where the intermission is longer than the first or second act. From the proclamation from God’s messenger to the birth of Jesus Christ took three thousand years. In that time you have several attempts to annihilate the Jews or put them into slavery. You have the battle for human civilization, an advent of the arts and literature. Hebrew literature that reminds them of God’s promise is shared in Temples and Synagogues. You have Alexander the Great and conquests. The rise, fall and rise of the Maccabees, and the mixing of religion plus legalism divided by politics and what emerges from that equation were the religious lawyers and teachers called the  Pharisees and the Sadducee. Some intermission huh?  And yet there is another power brewing in the hearts of  a remnant of God’s people. It is the power of hope, peace, love and joy that comes by a filling and refilling of the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Advent of Hope

Hope is coming. Prepare the way. God’s motive is to turn the people’s heads to Him and what He is doing. He hates how the Pharisees and Sadducee are adding and subtracting laws to cover up their dark hearts. He loves them, he hates their politics and religion. As the curtain rises to the second act we have a healthy man versus God, man verses man, and man versus himself conflict. You have the lawyers and the politicians bullying people with their Twinkie authority. Their bumper sticker on the rump of their camels might say- “Power to the Pharisees.” They have contests on “Who wants to throw the first stone?” These are the guys who when they saw the disabled man they’d point their shaky finger and say: “You will always be that way because of your sin and your parent’s sin.” No wonder Jesus came to forgive sins first and then heal the sick; the lame, the disabled and the possessed.

True or False testing

God hates false teaching and false representatives. But you can turn from that way and follow Him, know His design and motive for you by subscribing, reading and doing what the Word says and calls you to do. God shows you the path to follow by the approach to the love that was born to us in Jesus. That’s hope, where father’s hearts will turn to their children and children’s hearts will turn to their fathers.” And then there is the P -the power on our MAP, found in the filling and the refilling of the Holy Spirit. Yes hope is found by praying the scriptures and really talking to God about what His motive is for your life. That also means active listening and following the approach and study of how Jesus taught is to approach one another. Simplify the law and all others fall into place. “Love the Lord God with all your heart soul and mind, and love your neighbor as yourself.” ( Luke 10: 27). Then as Jesus told the women at the well about the power found that only Jesus can provide is the living water. The hope of the power of the Holy Spirit, that dwells in you.

Dear readers, listeners and viewers,

The prayer examiner appears here every Thursday and is designed as a communications tool between us that is like a  conference call that God is participating in. The MAP system that I have laid out for you is to guide us in the Biblical, Systematic and Evangelical nature of our relationship with God the Father, integrated with following Christ’s example; and powered by the Holy Spirit which we have total access to. The essentials of the way we do ministry, build leaders and communicate with one another has 5 common union tools to build infrastructure and foundation in our lifestyle and community. 1. Evangelism 2. Special Needs Ministries, 3. Engaging through Media and Culture, 4. Prayer and Communications, 5. Community Building. The filtering system is seeking and studying God’s motive and calling for each of us through His word:  Biblical Theology. Seeking and studying a Christ Approach that equates following a path and guide through Systematic Theology; and finally to “Go and  share that message with the world,”  powered by a grant from the Holy Spirit.” We call that Evangelical Theology that goes beyond study of religion and law but gets to the heart and mind of our relationship with God and to one and other.” For more e-mail us at ancientpathsdenver@juno.com.
